Huawei Unveils eKitStor Xtreme M.2 SSD and New Data Storage Solutions

On February 20, 2024, Huawei hosted the Data Storage New Year New Product launch event, unveiling the eKitStor Xtreme M.2 SSD and a range of effective data storage solutions. These products are expected to boost industrial growth in various aspects.

The eKitStor Xtreme M.2 SSD seems to be mainly targeting the consumer market. It integrates high-performance components and comes in four storage options: 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. Users can pick from these choices as per their requirements.

Notably, the eKitStor Xtreme M.2 SSD is quite useful in video editing, outdoor activities, game acceleration, and more. It offers a reading speed of 7400MB/s. In terms of performance, the new drive optimizes efficiency by 15%, while it gains increment in durability and reliability by 10% and 30% respectively.

Huawei also unveiled a new data lake solution that uses the Global File System (GFS) to assemble data assets and make them manageable for consumers. This solution looks after three major functionalities:

1. It builds a map of data assets to obtain global visualization and real-time updates related to cross-domain, cross-site, and cross-vendor.

2. The usage of smart data directory to fulfill auto-aggregation, retrieval, and presentation of data. This will further help in the automatic arrangement of data as per their category like content, compliance, and popularity.

3. Ensuring that data circulation is safe, controllable, and easily traceable.

Apart from unveiling new products, Huawei also brought GFS features via an open-source plan to its partners and end-users. It will ultimately help elevate the growth of data products and help enterprises in the respective subject.

The company also introduced some entry-level storage solutions based on all-flash NAS like OceanStor Dorado 2100, an upgraded SAN storage based OceanStor Dorado 2000, and a fusion of SAN & NAS OceanStor Dorado 3000.

With these new products, Huawei is promoting the inclusiveness of flash memory in all scenarios. The new products include storage products covering different capacities from TB level to PB level for the commercial market, realizing full flash storage for entry-level main memory and backup.

The launch of the eKitStor Xtreme M.2 SSD and new data storage solutions marks a significant step forward for Huawei in the data storage industry. These products are expected to boost industrial growth and help various industries such as finance, government, operators, education, and scientific research fully release data assets potential.
